The countdown to the September season kickoff has officially begun. For the men’s and colts tackle teams, the path to victory starts with dedicated training sessions beginning June 29. This is the moment to sharpen skills, build team chemistry, and put in the hard work that will pay off when the whistle blows on game day. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the tackle scene, these training dates mark the first step toward a powerful season.

Training Schedule and What to Expect

Training sessions are set to run twice a week at Myrtle Road Fields in Claremont Meadows:

  • Colts: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

  • Men’s: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

These sessions will focus on mastering the fundamentals of tackle football. From blocking techniques to tackling drills, every practice will be designed to build a strong foundation. Coaches will emphasize proper form, agility, and strategic play to ensure every player is ready to perform at their best.

Mastering the Fundamentals

Success on the field starts with solid fundamentals. Training will cover essential skills such as:

  • Proper tackling form to reduce injury and increase effectiveness

  • Footwork drills to improve speed and balance

  • Passing and catching techniques for offensive plays

  • Defensive positioning and reading the opponent’s moves

By focusing on these basics early, players will develop confidence and consistency. This groundwork is crucial for executing complex plays during the season and adapting to fast-paced game situations.

Building Team Chemistry

Football is a team sport that thrives on trust and communication. Training sessions will provide the perfect environment to build strong connections among teammates. Through drills, scrimmages, and group exercises, players will learn to anticipate each other’s moves and work as a cohesive unit.

Team chemistry is more than just knowing plays; it’s about understanding each player’s strengths and weaknesses. This understanding allows the team to support one another and adjust strategies on the fly. The bonds formed during training will translate into better coordination and resilience during the season.

Putting in the Work Behind the Scenes

Great performances on game day don’t happen by chance. They are the result of countless hours of preparation, sweat, and focus during training. Players will be expected to commit fully to the schedule, showing up ready to push their limits and improve every session.

Behind the scenes, coaches will analyze performance, provide feedback, and tailor drills to address specific needs. This continuous improvement cycle ensures that every player grows stronger and more skilled as the season approaches.

Why You Should Join the Training

Whether you aim to make the starting lineup or want to support your team from the sidelines, attending training is essential. It’s the place to:

  • Learn from experienced coaches and teammates

  • Improve physical fitness and football skills

  • Build lasting friendships and team spirit

  • Prepare mentally and physically for the challenges ahead

The energy and commitment during these sessions set the tone for the entire season. Players who put in the work now will be the ones making game-changing plays come September.
